Jewellery Care

Costume Jewellery Care

No matter how high the quality of costume jewellery, it still requires handling with care in order to remain in good condition. With a little care, your jewellery will remain looking its best for many years:

  • Jewellery should be the last thing you put on in the morning, and the first thing you remove in the evening. Sticking to this routine will mean less wear and tear on your jewellery.

  • Avoid contact with chemicals, such as perfume, hair spray, deodorant, body lotion, etc. Spray perfume, etc first then leave time for it to completely dry before putting on your jewellery.  Chemicals will alter the finish; it could change colour or become very dull.
  • Always store in a cool and dry place, and store separately in order to avoid scratching and tangling with other items.

  • Do not use abrasive jewellery cleaners.
  • Clean your jewellery with a soft cloth and mild detergent with water if required, rinse with clean water and dry with a soft cloth.

When not to wear costume jewellery:

  • Remove all jewellery before a bath or a shower.
  • Remove all jewellery during strenuous work or exercise. Also, when engaged in routine household tasks. Cleaning chemicals will damage jewellery, gardening can leave scratches, etc.
  • Remove jewellery before entering a chlorinated pool or hot tub. Chlorine, especially at high temperatures, can permanently damage or discolour jewellery.
